Tuesday, March 7 James Madison University will be hosting Military/Veterans Appreciation Day and invite all veterans and members of the branches of the military to join us at Veteran’s Memorial Park to enjoy midday baseball and be recognized during the game for their bravery, honor and dedication for their services.

During the game, at the end of the 2nd inning we will ask all current soldiers, veterans, and members of ROTC program to stand and be recognized and saluted for their dedications and services and will the entire duration of the inning break (approximately minute and a half to two minutes). We also will have a member of the VA Army National Guard and who currently works with the JMU ROTC program performing the National Anthem on his trumpet.

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is March 29, and this year marks the 50th anniversary of the events that took place in 1973, which led to that date being designated Remembrance Day.
The Fairfax County Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will sponsor a wreath laying ceremony to remember Fairfax County residents who fell in Vietnam and honor all Vietnam veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. All are welcome and invited to participate in this commemoration event.
