Chartered since 1980 by the American Legion Post 177, Troop 1887 meets every Tuesday from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30pm, except during the month of August, at the Post. Post 177 provides a meeting place and financial support to Troop 1887.
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Troop 1887 follows the Boy Scout concepts of Patrol method and outdoor experience. Patrols teach Scouts about group interaction, teamwork and citizenship. Boy Scouting has significant emphasis on the outdoors and appreciation of nature. Camping skills are practiced in the Troop to allow a lifelong enjoyment of camping and nature.
