Scouts BSA

Chartered since 1980 by the American Legion Post 177, Troop 1887 meets every Tuesday from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, except during the month of August, at the Post. Troop 1887 is for boys ages 11-18.

Chartered since 2019 by the American Legion Post 177,  Troop 1888 meets every Tuesday from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm except during the month of August, at the Post. Troop 1888 is for girls ages 11-18.

Chartered since 2024 by the American Legion Post 177, Cub Scout Pack 656 meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at Fairhill Elementary School at 6:30 pm.  The Pack is for both boys and girls from Kindergarten thru the 5th grade.

The mission of the  Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts of America) is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Two Troops  follow the Scout concepts of Patrol method and outdoor experience. Patrols teach Scouts about group interaction, teamwork and citizenship.  Scouting has significant emphasis on the outdoors and appreciation of nature. Camping skills are practiced in the Troops to allow a lifelong enjoyment of camping and nature.

Troop Activities include:

  •  High Adventure (for those who have finished the 8th grade.)Backpacking Campouts

Summer Camp

  • Skiing
  • Biking & Hiking Monthly Outings

Service includes:

  • Scouting for Food
  • 4th of July Parade
  • American Legion & Veterans Events
  • Litter and environmental cleanups.
  • Honor Flights

The Cub Pack

The Cub Pack focuses on family events and activities

    Pack activities include:

  • Family camping Spring, Summer, and Fall
  • Traditional Pinewood Derby
  • Fairfax City 4th of July parade
  • Annual Blue and Gold Banquet

Service includes

  • Bimonthly hikes and community service projects:
  • Food collection drive (Scouting For Food)
  • Park clean-up
  • Veteran appreciation events
